Panels

-Closed call for applications- -Closed call for applications

Panel proposals related to any field of African Studies, beyond the conference theme, will be accepted.

Previous registration on the website, the proposals must be sent through the specific form by the person who assumes the role of panel coordinator and contact person.

The call for panel proposals closes on May 31, 2024.

The Organizing Committee will publish the approved panels on June 5, 2024.

Each proposal should include:

  1. Title
  2. Abstract (250 words)
  3. Main coordinator and contact person, responsible for the panel and contact for communications with the Congress Committee.
  4. Coordinators: all persons coordinating a panel must register on the platform in order to be able to manage communications.

It will be valued that the coordination includes specialists from Portuguese and Spanish institutions.

The Scientific Committee of the Congress will evaluate the proposals for Panels and will accept those that meet the requirements of this call.

Later, the coordinators of the approved panels must accept, in turn, the proposals for papers for their respective panels, totaling a minimum of 3, not counting the presentations of the coordinators.

The management of each panel will be done through this website prior to the login session of the registered user with his/her email and password. Instructions will be sent to the coordinators.

Each participant in the Congress can only coordinate 1 Panel.

After the deadline for responses from the coordinators, the Scientific Committee may propose mergers or redirections of panels and communicating persons, either because their proposals have been rejected or because they are insufficient to constitute a panel.

The Organizing Committee, for its part, will establish time slots for each panel, depending on the approved papers (4-6 for 2 hours); the possibility of occupying more than two slots (more than 12 approved papers, not counting the coordinators) will not be automatic and, if the case arises, the Organizing Committee will study it, consulting, if necessary, with the Scientific Committee. The Organizing Committee will publish the slots and locations of each panel on November 15, 2024.

The preparation and organization of the sessions approved for the panel will be the responsibility of the coordinators.
